The shuttle bus which runs between Scarborough and Bridlington Hospitals is back on the road after a new company was found to operate the service.
The route was suspended on March 5 after North Yorkshire Police launched an investigation into the licences held by the North of England
Ambulance Service, the Pickeringbased company which previously ran the service.

Dial a Ride has now stepped i
n and will run the shuttle until June 30, when the arrangements will once again be reviewed. Dial a Ride will supply a low-floored vehicle, which has been designed to be easily accessible for all passengers, including people requiring wheelchair
access.

It 15-seat bus has the same capacity as the one which was run by the previous operator. The service, which has proved popular since its launch in July 2008, will remain free of charge. The only change to the timetable is that the 7.30am service from Bridlington will now depart at 7.45am, and there is no longer an 8am service from Bridlington.

A spokesperson for Scarborough and North East Yorkshire Healthcare NHS Trust said: "We are pleased to announce that the shuttle bus service
between Scarborough and Bridlington Hospitals will resume for patients, visitors and their escorts or carers.

"Everybody has worked really hard to get it back up and running. Once
again we would like to take this opportunity to apologise to patients and visitors for any inconvenience during this time."

The shuttle service departs from Scarborough Hospital's main entrance at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm. It departs from Bridlington Hospital's main entrance, at 7.45am,10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm.
