New recruits sought to join Park Authority

NORTH York Moors National Park Authority is looking for two candidates to join its team of members.

The organisation’s 22 members are responsible for strategic management decisions including wildlife, education, planning and communications.

Jim Bailey, chairman of the Authority, said: “Members play a key role in setting policies and priorities for the National Park Authority and ensuring that money is well spent. New recruits join us at a challenging time, but there is also much to be positive about including a new management plan, the Lime and Ice exhibition at Sutton Bank National Park and the 60th anniversary of the North York Moors National Park.”

New members will be appointed by Environment Secretary, Owen Paterson, ready for posts to commence from April 2013, initially for up to four years.

The position is unsalaried, with allowance and expenses provided

Applicants must apply no later than November, 16, 2012.

Members must commit two-three days a month. Applications are encouraged from members of ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, women and young people. The final decision will be on merit.
