BIDDING could be fierce when pieces of Malton's history come under the hammer at an auction this Friday.

Tennants of Ley-burn have almanacks from 1918 and 1936, a 1924 calendar of St Leonard's and St Michael's churches and an album filled with old postcards.
The family of a former resident have put the memorabilia up for auction.
Rodney Tennant, director of the auctioneers, said he would like the collection to return to the town.
He said: "I'm keen it goes back to people who are interested in Malton's history."
A viewing will be held at The Auction Centre, Leyburn, tomorrow from 9am to 7pm, followed by the auction on Friday from 9.30am.
