Add your voice to singing sessions

THE Alzheimer’s Society is looking to recruit more volunteers to help out with a new musical service starting next month.

Following the success of its Scarborough Singing for the Brain sessions, the society is now branching out into Ryedale.

Information Worker Helen Williams, said, “We are
looking for two or three musically-minded, lively volunteers available on a fortnightly basis for a couple of hours.

“The sessions are lots of fun and just as rewarding for the staff and volunteers as they are for the people with dementia and their carers. No particular musical ability is required, although a willingness to join in with the singing, work as part of a team and have a caring approach is important.”

Volunteers are also needed for the society’s Pickering Memory Café, its fund-raising team and the Befrienders scheme which helps people with dementia to continue a hobby or leisure activity.

Anyone interested in taking part in Singing for the Brain is asked to contact the Alzheimer’s Society on (01723) 500958.
