Choir has the man power

WHEN 12 men gathered in their local pub to sing together in 1991, one of the gathering, Les Williams, a former singer with the Welsh National Opera, provided the inspiration and encouragement needed to form a choir.

Two years later and with more members, this 50-piece group, the New Mill Male Voice Choir, sang as part of the World Choir at Cardiff.

Since then they have appeared at the Royal Albert Hall and have sung in Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain and Poland.

Now they’re heading to Helmsley Arts Centre to perform on Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are £12, £10 for concessions.
