Get training for new marathon

RYEDALE runners will soon be lacing up in preparation for the first ever Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon, which launched this week.

For anyone who made a New Year’s resolution to get fit and active this year, it could be just the incentive.

Thousands of people are expected to take part in the sporting feat which
takes place in October in and around
the streets of York as well as the
surrounding countryside.

It is hoped that both elite runners and those who want to take part for fun and raise cash for charities close to their hearts will sign up.

The event aims to bring together runners in the North and beyond, who wish to push themselves to the limit on a flat course.

Organisers hope the event will become a major fixture on the sporting calendar.
