THIS year's show heralded a special anniversary for one West Knapton man.
For the past decade Paul Beal, 47, has organised the Vintage Machinery Section – seeing the number of entries improve year after year.

Sunday saw at least 90 machines – including tractors, engines and models – with the heating engineer showing a 1948 Foster Threshing Machine, a Jones Wire Baler and a Field Marshall Series Three Tractor, among other machines.

“It doesn't feel like 10 years,” said Paul. “It’s grown and grown and there’s now more interest in vintage machinery. More of our entries are local but then there’s a few who come from all over the country.”

Paul’s interest first began when he spoke to a local contractor and saw an International tractor and persuaded the owner to sell it. His first show was in 1997 and the following year he took over as steward with many more years hopefully to come.

“I like organising this because it’s a nice traditional local show on your doorstep,” he said.
