TWENTY-FIVE students at a Ryedale school have passed their bronze Duke of Edinburgh programme.
The students, from years 11 and 12 at Lady Lumley’s, Pickering, completed a wide range of practical skills such as sports, skills and serving the community.

David Mann, from the school, said: “Much commitment has been demonstrated.

‘‘The most notable part of the award was when the students had to complete two seperate overnight expeditions.”

During these they walked without teachers and carried food and equipment.

He said: “It is the biggest group we have had through for a very long time and it is testament to the hard work put in by the students and also the dedication of the staff team that helps out with the award scheme.”

The school has about 150 stuidents involved in the scheme, ranging from the bronze to the gold award and the schools is expecting its first set of students to receive their gold awards from theDuke of Edinburgh in the summer.
