THE Polmear Ambache Duo return to Helmsley Arts Centre on Sunday.
Jeremy Polmear and Diana Ambache, who formed the group in 1977, will play a celebration of music written for Leon Goossens – or popularised by him – with works by Bach, Faure, Elgar, York Bowen and Malcolm Arnold on the programme.

Arguably the best-known oboist of the past 100 years, Goossens is well known in musical circles on both sides of the Atlantic and made many high-profile concertos recordings.

The Polmear Ambache Duo were formed for a British Council tour of India and have since played in 33 countries, including recitals at London’s Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room.

Ambache also directs her own classical chamber orchestra and has made five recordings of the Mozart Piano Concertos.

Gramophone Magazine said: “Jeremy Polmear is a musicianly artist, with a sweet, Goossens-like tone.”

Tickets are available from Helmsley Arts Centre box office.
