THE North Yorkshire Moors Railway has been shortlisted for a major tourism award.
The railway, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors a year, has been shortlisted for the Best Visitor Attraction Award 2009 in the over 50,000 visitors category.
The awards will be made by the Moors & Coast Tourism Partnership on November 25 at the Spa Pavilion, Scarborough.
The railway, which helps to generate some £30 million a year into the local and regional economy, has enjoyed record visitor numbers in the past two years and expects to record even bigger numbers by the end of this year.
NYMR general manager, Philip Benham, said: "We are delighted and hope the judging panel are as impressed as the travelling public in what we have to offer.''
