HIP hip hooray!
The sun had his hat on for Kirkbymoorside Primary School's annual sports day.
For the first time in three years the weather failed to stop play for the seven to 11 year olds who spent Thursday afternoon sprinting, skipping and running in front of boisterous support from their fellow pupils, teachers and parents.
They raced on space hoppers, in sacks and dressed-up – all for the right to call their team champion at the end of the day.
In the end it was the Blue Team who claimed the title with a narrow defeat of their yellow rivals.
Meanwhile, the school's younger pupils held their sports day on Monday with bat and ball races, a toy relay and a dressing-up race among other sports.
