Railway’s winter work

STAFF and volunteers with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway have been braving the elements in their race to get urgent winter maintenance work completed in time for its all important 2013 season.

Led by civil engineer and project manager Nigel Trotter, the team are carrying out essential work to the tracks along the heritage railway line and to the trains and carriages themselves.

And their work this year may be more important than ever as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is preparing to celebrate a host of landmarks in 2013 – most notably its 40th birthday.

This year will also see the 20th anniversary of the Classic Cars weekend, the 30th year of the Diesel Gala and the 21st birthday of the Railway at Wartime.
