Pastures new are on the horizon for one of Ryedale’s council chiefs.

Paul Cresswell, the Corporate Director of Ryedale District Council, has announced he will leave the authority in the coming months.

He will take up a new job as Assistant Director - Strategic Resources and Procurement for North Yorkshire County Council in May - bringing the curtain down on his six year association with Ryedale House.

One of Mr Cresswell’s final jobs will be to deliver the 2014/15 budget.

“I am excited about my new job with North Yorkshire County Council and the challenges it presents with continued reductions in funding and increasing service demands,” he said. “I have enjoyed my time with Ryedale, being part of a whole council effort to steer the authority successfully through tough financial times. “There will be sadness to leave such a great team behind at Ryedale, but I feel the authority has set itself up to continue delivering its great services for many years to come.”

Cllr Linda Cowling, Leader of Ryedale District Council, said: “I am very sorry to see Paul leave Ryedale District Council.

“We could not have had better financial advice. However it was inevitable that someone of Paul’s calibre would want to progress his career and I wish him well for the future.”
