Customers are being urged to contact a florist after a break-in at her Malton shop.

Thieves stole the till and a laptop from The Topiary Tree, Finkle Street, in the early hours of Monday, but owner Gemma Bicknell said they also took her all-important order books - leaving her without any way to know which deliveries are due, where and when.

Now she wants customers to call her and remind her of their orders.

“They took the till and bits and bobs but they also took my paperwork, all the orders and all my bride and wedding folders. Some of it I can recover on email but for things like deliveries we are having to go off memory.”

“We would like any of our customers who have placed an order with us to get in touch and go through the order with us again.”

Gemma added there is “no security risk” for customers who have placed an order as all personal and financial information was safely stored away.

Police investigated the burglary on Monday with Crime Scene Investigators searching the florist’s for clues about the identity of the thieves.

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to contact PC 1849 Mel Pitchford at Malton Police Station on 101. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111, quoting reference number 12140010359.
