A hospital worker has appeared in court charged with stealing from patients.
Sophie McGarry, 21, from Norton, is accused of up to 14 theft charges.
The Crown Prosecution Service alleges that McGarry stole from staff, patients or visitors at Scarborough Hospital. McGarry appeared at York Crown Court on Monday alongside co-accused Liam Andrews, of Bracewell Street, Burnley, who is accused of handling stolen goods.
The court heard that since McGarry’s arrest on suspicion of theft, she had been suspended from her role at the hospital. The case was adjourned for a plea-and-case-management hearing on September 15.
McGarry was released on bail on the condition that she contacts police in the event of a change in her employment status. Andrews was also released on bail on condition that he resides at his home in Lancashire.
