Roads: Don’t forget the villagers

I am writing on behalf of the Rillington Bypass committee in response to the article in the Mercury of May 8, 2013.

Thank-you for your efforts at election time

Now that the county council elections, and the previous busy and hectic weeks before May 2 have passed, I would be grateful for a brief space in your columns to comment.

Concerns over bus change

It has been announced that from May 25 between the hours of 10am and 1pm buses on the Coastliner Scarborough route will not stop to pick up or drop passengers after Rillington and all concessionary travellers between Rillington and Scarborough will be charged £3 for that stage of their journey. On the Whitby route there will be a similar change to ‘Express’ buses after the stop at Thornton-le-Dale, and a similar charge of £3 to concessionary pass holders made for that part of the journey. These changes will only affect the outward journeys.

Praise: Bikers say a big thank you

We would like to thank everyone who supported our 16th annual Easter Egg run.

Potash mine: Boulby could do the job

I wish to add some comments to the case of an application to mine potash within the protected environment of the North York Moors National Park.

Wartime letters should go to Maw family

On my last visit to North Yorkshire, I visited an antique market.

Foul-mouthed yobs on train

If you were trapped on a short Northern Rail train journey, your nerves near breaking-point because of constant foul language plus frequent, deafening, insane laughter from two adolescents nearby, what would be your responses, if any?

Thanks to all who supported Sleepout

A great big thank you to the following organisations who supported the Sleepout in Pickering [to highlight the plight of the homeless]:

Frogs’ legs are for the French!

I was shocked to read that a fish and chip shop in Robin Hood’s Bay is selling frogs’ legs.
