A long-serving councillor was among distinguished company when he was honoured for his “eminent service” to North Yorkshire recently.
Mike Knaggs, of Castle Howard Road, Malton, was elected Alderman by North Yorkshire County Council for his service to the Malton ward which he represented for a total of 20 years. The former council chairman in 2007/08, Mr Knaggs decided to step down from the authority at this year’s election.
However, he remains heavily involved in the community through his work with Malton Town Council.
Joining him as Aldermen were Jane Kenyon, of Whitby/Mayfield cum Mulgrave ward; Caroline Seymour, of Stokesley; and John Marshall, Harrogate Central.
