Amelia wins place in top choir

A PUPIL at Terrington Hall School has been awarded a place in the National Children's Choir of Great Britain.

A poster in Banks Music Shop, York, inviting nine to 15 year olds to audition for a place in the choir prompted Amelia Cook, 11, to apply.

In October she was invited to attend auditions where she performed Wouldn’t It Be Lovely from My Fair Lady and completed sight-reading and aural tests.

The Year Six pupil, who also plays the piano and clarinet, is now looking forward to two residential training weeks in the Easter and summer holidays.

Amelia has been singing since the age of seven, first under piano and singing teacher Margaret Berg, of Strensall, and now under the Convent Garden baritone Chris Thornton-Holmes who teaches at Terrington Hall.
