Ryedale Show proved to be the perfect training ground for two students from Askham Bryan College.
Jordan Foster, of Wakefield, and Tom Kyte, of York, spent the day showing their Holstein cattle at Welburn Park, near Kirkbymoorside, yesterday.
It was their third show of the season following the Great Yorkshire and Driffield Shows which has seen them pick up rosettes at both events.
The students picked up rosettes for first and third at Driffield Show and rosettes for second and sixth at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Their tutor Charlotte Smith, the manager of the agriculture couse at Askham Bryan, said: “It is a really good experience for them. It helps them with time management, give the a lot of self-discipline to get heiffers ready - their own presentation as well as the heiffers.”
Fellow tutor Richard Heaton added: “The course is really popular with the students who come from all over Yorkshire, especially now that the college offers free transport. It is a good opportunity to show cattle - we have done really well this year.”
Next up for Askham Bryan is the Calf of the Year show for the Holstein Club at the end of August.
