Ryedale District Councillors have received a top award for their efforts to serve the people of
Ryedale.

Members have been presented with the Local Government Yorkshire and Humber Member Development Charter for their efforts to ensure that they play an effective part in local democracy.

“Councillors are crucial to our shared vision for
local government – efficient, accountable, reliable and changing lives for the
better,” said Cllr Linda
Cowling, Leader of the council.

“So now more than ever we need to ensure our members are equipped to tackle these challenges – able to support local government to make a difference, deliver and be trusted.

“Effective political leadership is at the heart of effective democracy. Here at Ryedale District Council we are committed to supporting and developing the councillors on whose shoulders this rests.

This is the first time Ryedale District Council has applied for Charter status.
