CELEBRITY chef James Martin has spoken of his delight after it was revealed that his Leeds-based restaurant has been nominated for a string of Oliver awards.
The Leeds Kitchen by James Martin, which is based at the Alea Casino on Clarence Dock, will battle it out in four categories –Best Fine Dining; Best City Centre Restaurant; Best Service; and Best of British.
The Oliver Awards are inspired by the Oliver restaurant reviews which appear weekly in the Mercury’s sister paper, the Yorkshire Evening Post and reflect the best of dining out in Yorkshire.
An experienced panel of testers, who always remain anonymous, visit more than 100 venues each year, ranging from gastropubs, to cafes, fine dining and popular neighbourhood restaurants.
Since opening in April 2011, The Leeds Kitchen by James Martin has been no stranger to picking up awards, having won Best Service in the 2012 Oliver Awards.
“I am delighted The Leeds Kitchen has been put up for four awards,” said Mr Martin, who was born and raised in Ryedale.
“The whole team has worked so hard in trying to deliver the best, local British produce possible and to have such nominations is fantastic in our second year of opening.
“Good luck to everyone up for an Oliver!”
