Boys spoken to as part of school vandalism investigation

Two boys have been spoken to as part of the investigation into vandalism at two Ryedale primary schools.

The playgrounds at Malton Community Primary School and St Mary’s RC Primary School were targeted in the attack last week - sparking a police appeal.

Officers looking into the damage have thanked the community for their support and revealed that two local boys, aged 12 and 13, have been spoken to about the incident.

The investigation is continuing, they added.

PC Mark Rees said: “This incident has caused a lot of upset within the local community and we are determined to bring the case to a swift conclusion. The response from local people has been very supportive and I would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information.

“Beat manager PC Jane Jones who has been heavily involved in the investigation will be visiting both schools involved to reassure all the children affected but the incident.”

Anybody who wishes to pass on any information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Mark Reed or PC Jane Jones. Alternatively email jane.jones@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
