The developers behind a 500-home scheme in Ryedale have made adjustments to their original design and traffic flow following feedback from the public.

Changes made to the Fitzwilliam Estate development - currently named “High Malton” - on Castle Howard Road, Malton, include improvements to the road network and the introduction of bungalows.

They have also moved to ease any concerns about the impact on local infrastructure, especially for younger residents.

“It would be fair to say that we have not merely listened, but taken note and acted upon the concerns expressed during our community consultation events,” said surveyor Tobias Burckhardt.

“The revised proposal includes changes to accommodate what we learnt at the consultation as well as better explanation of our intentions.”

“Equally, the large majority of respondents, at the exhibition or online later, were entirely positive about the initial masterplan, which envisages a mixed village community with local facilities to grow the western end of Malton over the next decade.”

The estate has held discussions with planning officers at Ryedale District Council and transport consultants to refine the initial design.

A planning application is expected to be submitted before the summer and, if approved, the first homes could be ready in 2016.

The evolving masterplan can be viewed online at www.maltonestate.co.uk. Feedback is welcomed.
