Children under the age of 12 will be admitted free of charge to this Sunday’s Betfair Malton Open Stables Day.

And they will be well catered for too - with a popular “Kids Love the Races” roadshow designed to build interest in the sport of horseracing among the younger generation.

Budding jockeys can find out more about the equine and human stars of the sport, design their own racing silks and take a look at some specialist racing equipment.

And the fun and games do not stop there as the Open Day will see 20 of the country’s top stables open their doors to the public, including Richard Fahey, Brian Ellison and Tim Easterby and there will be other activities such as a farrier display, demonstration from “Horse Whisperer” Gary Witheford and the chance for people to test riding skills on a mechanical horse.

Tim Fitzgerald, Chairman of the Malton Racing Association, said; ‘With top chaser Monet’s Garden coming along for the day, loads of demonstrations and activities including the Kids Love Races Roadshow it’s the perfect way to keep all the family entertained.”
