Music, movement and masks will breathe life into a book written by more than 200 Ryedale schoolchildren.
The Amazing Jungle Adventure will be performed by youngsters taking part in workshops at the Ryedale Book Festival on Saturday, October 19.
For the first time the completed story, published by Pickering company That Company Called If, will be on display in The Milton Rooms alongside original illustrations. Local author Beth Dexter-Smith worked with the children to create the book as part of the festival’s schools’ project last term visiting each of the ten participating schools to collect their part of the story.
Beth will be reading from the story alongside the one-off performance at the Friends’ Meeting House in Malton.
Actress Audrie Woodhouse, of Woodhouse Theatre Connections, Kate Smith, of Little Monkeys Music and Movement, are also helping to put together the event which includes a mask-making workshop with artists Helen Lowdell and Angela Parkin. Workshop tickets are available from Malton Tourist Information Centre on (01653) 600048.
