FANS of the silver screen are now faced with even more choice at The Palace Cinema.
Owners Jeremy and Caroline Powell are putting the finishing touches to a third, more intimate, screen at the popular Malton venue in response to growing demand from their customers.
Seating 12 people, it will show the latest blockbusters such as Les Miserables, Lincoln and Quartet along with screenings of live performances from the Royal Opera House and the National Theatre which have already been a sell-out success for the cinema.
“We are desperate for screens,” said Jeremy. “The only thing to do is to use the Lounge as a full commercial screen.
“No one in their right mind would spend this amount on a full commercial cinema screen of this size but we have so many films to fit in and so little space.
“We want to be able to keep some films longer than we might otherwise, and fit in others that we get requests for. This will mean we can keep films longer and offer more choice to our discerning audience.”
It is the latest innovation from The Palace Cinema which introduced a second screen and digital projection in 2006 and more recently installed equipment to allow 3D films to be shown.
