Computer drop-in to offer course advice

DISCOVER more about what computers and the internet can do for you at a Ryedale library next week.

Library staff are inviting anyone who is interested about getting online or who are terrified of technology to join them and find out the full range of Computer Taster Courses offered by North Yorkshire’s Library Service at Norton Library on Saturday February 9.

The IT drop-in morning aims to ensure that everyone, old or young, can discover the everyday benefits of being on-line and using different technologies.

The drop-in gives a friendly introduction to computers and provides information about ways in which computer novices can learn new skills. It ensures that people have access to services and interests which allow them to take the initiative in living their lives the way they want.

“Age is no obstacle to using computers as we have found out time and time again in running taster sessions and courses in the libraries” said County Cllr Chris Metcalfe, Executive Member for Library and Information Services. “If you have never used a computer, but have often wondered what it would be like, this is an ideal opportunity to try it, along with people in a similar situation and with help from library staff and volunteers.”
