The conservation work behind some of Malton’s best known buildings will be showcased at an event next week.

Building Conservation Officers from across North Yorkshire and members of English Heritage will be in the market town on Wednesday June 18, and visit a number of Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate’s properties, including York House, the Talbot Hotel, the Talbot Yard and the Town Hall.

The visit has been jointly organised by the estate and Ryedale District Council.

Roddy Bushell, manager of Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate, added: “Malton Estate has custodianship of some wonderful old buildings in Malton’s town centre and is rising to the challenge of repairing and refurbishing them so that people can enjoy them in the 21st century.

“We have found some solutions that the estate’s Building Surveyor will be happy to share. Equally, we have a lot to learn and hope that the gathered expertise of North Yorkshire’s Conservation Officers will produce a good discussion and some solutions for us.”
