A retired Vicar is pedalling to Ryedale to speak about the peacekeeping work of a church in Iraq.

Rev David C W Post will cycle up to Kirby Misperton Village Hall in March for the illustrated talk about St George’s Church, Baghdad.

He has accepted the invitation to the district as part of a Cycling Speaking Tour in support of work of Canon Andrew White’s Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East which administers and pays for his peacemaking ministry.

Rev Post has recently
returned from Iraq where he saw at first hand the key role it plays in the Middle East
Peace Process.

Known as the Vicar of Baghdad, Canon White is aiming to bring together religious and political leaders and join forces against the violence which has blighted the region.

His church, St George’s, welcomes all comers, including Christian survivors from other churches, as well as any others who wish to join them.

It has a kindergarten for the young children, the Mothers’ Union distributes Food Aid to destitute families, irrespective of their religion or politics, and boasts a clinic which treats over 2,000 patients each month. All are invited to hear Rev Post speak at Kirby Misperton on Tuesday March 18, at 7.30pm.
