A scheme to build 85 new homes has been given the green light by Ryedale District Council’s planning committee.
Taylor Wimpey can now build 27 four bedroom homes, 23 houses with three bedrooms, 17 two-bedroom properties, and 16 one-bedroom homes on allotment land at Broughton Road, near Malton. It will include a public open space, parking, garages and landscaping.
Council planning officer Alan Hunter said 35 per cent of the homes would be classed as affordable.
The developers are to contribute £227,000 towards more facilities at local schools, £232,000 towards the costs of the Brambling Fields junction, and a further £146,252 towards sport and leisure facilities for adults and young people.
There were two letters of objection to the plans - highlighting the impact on the Derwent Surgery and lack of room at local schools.
