TAKE your hats off to Helmsley this Easter!

Businesses in the market town are busy putting the finishing touches to their creative creations for an Easter Bonnet Trail which will run from Good Friday until Sunday April 7.

Families are invited to take a stroll through local shops, galleries and eateries to discover the hidden secrets of more than 30 bonnets.

A further 14 bonnets designed by pupils at Helmsley Community Primary School will also be on display.

Entry forms, which double as a guide, are available from The Beck Tearoom, 3 Castlegate.

And if visitors keep track of all the hidden secrets they uncover and return to the tearoom with the correct answers, they will receive a small Easter treat.

Entry is free but donations are welcomed and will be split between the Helmsley Sports and Social Club and the Helmsley in Business group to fund future events.

Chris Garnett, chairman of the Helmsley in Business group which is organising the trail, said: “It’s sometimes hard to entertain children in the school holidays without spending a fortune and this will be a bit of fun whilst going on an interesting wander round the town. All the businesses are designing their own bonnets so I’m sure, as with the Christmas Trees, there will be some unique and eye-catching creations going on.”
