Fundraiser hits the spot

THE Enormous Lunch has hit the spot.

Ryedale Special Families have been handed a cheque for more than £1,800, thanks to the efforts of local restaurants across Ryedale which agreed to serve a special Bangers and Mash menu and donate £1 from each meal dished up to the charity.

The week-long Enormous Lunch event ran from November 26 to December 2 and saw 22 pubs, restaurants and hotels take part.

In addition, one of the charity’s trustees, Jane de Wend Fenton organised her own version of the event at Ebberston Hall and the fundraiser ended with a special lunch at The Talbot Hotel cooked and served up by none other than celebrity chef James Martin.

Rob Davies, fundraiser for Ryedale Special Families, said: “We would like to extend a special thanks to everyone who took part. Hopefully, the idea is one which can be repeated and made even more ‘enormous’ later this year.”
