YORKSHIRE Coast Dog Rescue is hoping to raise enough money at two upcoming charity events to continue its support for homeless dogs in Ryedale.
Members of the Pickering & Malton branch are holding a Fashion Show for ladies and children at Pickering Infants School on March 8, quickly followed by its blue riband event, an Annual Charity Auction.
Proceeds from both moneyspinners will go towards caring for dogs like Oliver, a three year-old greyhound, who is currently in a foster home until new owners can be found.
The auction at Pickering Memorial Hall, to be held on April 12, boasts prizes ranging from family passes to popular North Yorkshire attractions, free meals at local restaurants, treats for man’s best friend, artwork, wines and spirits, signed celebrity and football photographs, theatre tickets and much more.
There have been around 70 pledges so far with more in the pipeline, say organisers.

As of last week, members of the Pickering & Malton branch of the charity, were caring for 13 dogs, its most ever, with more abandoned dogs being taken in each week.
“The more dogs we can re-home or foster, the more we can save,” said member Kate Collier, of Pickering.
Tickets for both nights cost £3 each, with children free, and include refreshments. They can be bought in advance from Kate Collier on (01751) 473245 or on the night.
