Gundog trials to be held in June

KIRKBYMOORSIDE will host the Yorkshire heats of this year's Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and Skinners Gundog trials.

Entries are being welcomed for the competition to be held at Spaunton Quarry on June 6 with the winners heading to the national finals in Shropshire in September.

The Gundog Working Tests and Fun Days are designed to test the working ability of gundogs in competitive conditions.

The dogs will be given an opportunity to show off their retrieving skills through ability tests and specifically designed exercises.

At the Kirkbymoorside event, there will be four classes – open class, novice and dog/novice handler, special puppy – with prizes for 1st to fourth places.

And qualifiers from the heats will be automatically entered into the national finals at Midland Game Fair, Weston Park, on September 19 and 20.

Anyone interested in entering should contact John Cavana on (01287) 669197 or 07837 555163.
