Plans have been unveiled to transform a landmark hotel and pub back to their former glory.
The Green Man and its next door premises, The Fleece pub, will be renovated by owner The Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate, it has been revealed.
The two buildings, based on Market Street, Malton, originally traded as separate businesses until they were amalgamated into a single hotel in 1977.
But in the plans, the estate intends to split the site and return it to its previous arrangement.
The Fleece is being marketed by Fleurets on behalf of the estate and includes a newly-recreated pub unit on the ground floor, seven former letting rooms on the first floor and a three bedroom private living accommodation.
Tobias Burckhardt, the Estate’s Surveyor, said: “The estate’s plan to offer The Fleece and The Green Man as separate entities is in keeping with the promotion of Malton as Yorkshire’s Food Capital.
“With two hours free parking available a stone’s throw from The Fleece, this property is ideal for a keen publican who can capitalise on the town’s popularity.
“The plans for the building include renovation to the ground floor, an improved internal layout, with scope to extend out to a newly created secluded patio/terrace area to the rear of the premises.”
