A micro-brewery planned for Helmsley, has been recommended for approval to the North York Moors National Park Authority by the town council.

The application from Kyle Boote is to use and extend an existing building at 18 Bridge Street and to provide a shop, and viewing gallery for the public to see the brewing process, town councillors were told.

However, there had been objections from neighbours concerned about possible smell but chairman, Cllr Chris Parkin said the brewery would only produced some 36 gallons of beer a day and any smells could be dealt with by a proposed ventilation unit.
