A Ryedale man who died in a two-vehicle collision near Driffield has been named by police.

Paul George Ella, who was from the Malton area, was
pronounced dead at the scene after his Ducatti Panigale motorbike collided with a Toyota Avensis at the Butterwick – Langtoft crossroads on the B1253 on Friday at 2.46pm.

Police say the 53-year-old had been travelling east bound along the B1253 when it collided with the Toyota which was driving northbound along Butterwick Road towards the junction.

Mr Ella suffered fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene.

A rear seat passenger in the Toyota Avensis, a 95-year-old woman, suffered a broken collar bone in the crash and was later treated at Scarborough Hospital.

The driver and a front seat passenger suffered minor injuries, including shock and bruising, say police.

A 69-year-old man was arrested by officers shortly afterwards and has since been released on bail as enquiries continue.

Police are now appealing for further information as they investigate the circumstances of the collision and ask anyone who may have witnessed it to contact Humberside Police on 101 quoting log number 407 of June 6 2014.
