Mountain bikes stolen in burglary

DETECTIVES are appealing for information following the theft of £9,000 worth of bicycles from a shop in Pickering.

The thieves broke into the shop on Southgate on Thursday at 2am - stealing 10 mountain bikes.

The stolen bikes are a washed denim coloured and a black Trek Skye S, a Trek Cobra in black and white, a black and grey Trek 6000, a Trek 3500 Disc, a black Trek Superfly AL Elite, a black and white Trex X-Caliber, a black and grey Trek Mamba, a denim wash coloured Trek Lush and a white Cammondale Trail.

It is believed that the thieves used a white van to transport the stolen bikes and may have been travelling with a small, dark coloured car.

DC Steve Lloyd, of Scarborough CID, said: “I need to speak to anyone who may be offered a mountain bike, matching the description of those stolen, for sale in unusual circumstances and ask them to get in touch.”

Contact DC Lloyd on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
