The row between Ryedale MP Anne McIntosh and members of the Thirsk and Malton Conservative Association flared up again at the association’s recent AGM.
Miss McIntosh has been deselected by the association from being the chosen prospective candidate at next year’s general election.
But she has vowed to fight back and indicated she might even stand as an independent conservative.
However, at the recent AGM in Malton, which saw a record turnout, supporters of the MP failed to be voted in as officers of the association.
And the new chairman is Kenelm Storey who was vice-chairman when the decision was taken recently to deselect her.
The incoming executive will decide the format of the candidate selection process and the list of candidates.
Conservative headquarters said the executive would be free to decide the selection process after the European elections in May.
