A new location has been found for Helmsley’s Tourist Information Centre.

While the location has not yet been disclosed, members of the town council heard, it
will be in the town’s market place area and provide information guides and broch-
ures for its thousands of tourists.

Cllr Jake Duncombe said he welcomed the news.

“It is good that someone is prepared to run it,” he said.

The move follows a decision by Ryedale District Council to discontinue running the Tourist Information Centre at the English Heritage’s visitor centre near Helmsley Castle, because of spending cuts.

*Helmsley’s community run library needs more volunteers. Anyone interested in helping is asked to contact Dinah Farley the Town Clerk at the National Park Offices, Helmsley.
