The new president of Ryedale Lions Club wants to find new ways of helping those less fortunate in the area.
David Tomlinson, 61, of Birklands, Beadlam, takes over the reins at the Lions with the intention of focusing on how the Lions Club can adapt its traditional strength as a community service organisation to the needs of the modern world.
“We have a tremendous record for raising money to support local charities and other community groups in need of financial help. Now I want to find new ways for Lions members to use their wide range of talents and skills to provide more personal help to those less fortunate in the community who could most benefit,” said David, who runs the Helmsley Natural Health Clinic.
Retiring President, Vic Hall, of Springfield Lane, Kirkbymoorside, said the work of the Lions in the past year had raised more than £20,000 to help support, among others, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Ryedale Special Families, Ryedale Carers Support, Wilf Ward Family Trust, among others.
“In difficult economic times the need is greater than ever and the local public has been very generous.”
Anyone who knows of a way in which they think the Lions club could help an individual or local group, they should e-mail the club at email@example.com.
