Police appeal after Ryedale warehouse theft

Police in Helmsley are appealing for information following the theft of gas canisters and wire fencing from a warehouse.

Thieves broke into the BATA warehouse mill on Sawmill Lane and stole around £2,800 worth of goods between 5pm on Monday and 8am on Tuesday (February 5).

The items stolen include six rolls of barbed wire, merchant wire, rabbit netting and propane gas canisters.

Police now want to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact them.

PC Andy Rogers, of Ryedale’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The thieves will have needed a vehicle to transport the goods and I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious, including vehicles or people, or noticed anything unusual in the area of Sawmill Lane, to please get in touch.

“Also, anyone who is offered goods of this nature for sale from anyone other than a legitimate retailer is asked to contact the police without delay.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Andy Rogers, or email andy.rogers@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

Alternatively, pass on information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference number 12130019786.
