A husband has paid tribute to the Good Samaritans who helped his wife when she collapsed in Malton on Saturday.
Robin and Helen Davidson, of Chestnut Avenue, Malton, were enjoying their weekly shopping trip in the town centre when Helen wandered off from her husband, who is also her full-time carer, while he was inside a shop and then fell on Wheelgate.
But help was on hand from the public while the couple endured a half hour wait for an ambulance, including a man who was painting a pub, a passing nurse and a former workmate of Helen’s, among countless others.
“I couldn’t thank everybody at the time,” said Robin. “It was so nice to see the kindness of the people of Malton. They really surpassed themselves. It was good that so many people showed such compassion to my wife and to me.”
Helen was treated by paramedics at the scene and is now feeling better, added Robin.
