Pride at donation to local charity
MEMBERS of The Encephalitis Society were all smiles when they were handed a cheque for £650 recently.
The money was raised at the 2012 Pride of Malton and Norton Awards at the Milton Rooms, Malton, through a raffle and auction which included signed mementoes from Olympic gold medal swimmer Rebecca Adlington.
Organisers with the Pride Awards had selected The Encephalitis Society as its chosen charity of the year.
The charity, which has its head-quarters on Castlegate, Malton, supports people of all ages and their families who are affected by Ence-phalitis, an inflammation of the brain usually caused by infection or auto-immune disease.
Mandy West, who helped organise the Pride of Malton and Norton Awards, said: “We are delighted to hand over this donation to Ava and the team at The Encephalitis Society.
“It is such a worthwhile cause and their support for sufferers and their families is second to none.”
