Organisers are promising their “biggest and best” event yet as they gear up for the 2014 Pride of Malton and Norton Awards.

Malton Events Group and the Malton & Pickering Mercury intend to pull out all the stops for what will be the 5th anniversary of the annual awards which aim to honour those local heroes who go the extra mile for the community in which they live.

To celebrate the landmark, there will be a number of new categories to complement the existing awards which include Teacher of the Year, Bright Young Star and Volunteer of the Year.

One of these is a new food-themed award to recognise Malton’s growing reputation as the “Food Capital of Yorkshire.”

The awards ceremony, to be held at the Milton Rooms, Malton, on October 25, will also be featured on local
radio and, hopefully, television.

Steven Swift, who has been a key organiser during its five year history, said: “We think this year’s awards will be our biggest and best yet. We intend to pull out all the stops to celebrate our fifth birthday. As always we will need the support of local businesses to help us sponsor the event and for the local community to nominate local people and groups who they feel deserve recognition.”

Businesses interested in helping to sponsor the event are asked to contact Mr Swift on 07540 723265 or Mandy West on 07713 987006.
