A bar and restaurant will be the latest venue in a series of events designed to raise money for a memorial fund set up after a Malton Hospital worker was killed on Newbiggin, Malton, a decade ago.
A quiz night is to be held on Sunday, June 1, at 7.30pm at Rory’s Bar in Market Place, Malton, to raise money for the Joanna Rookes Memorial Fund.
Relatives have been planning up to 10 events this year to mark the 10th anniversary since Joanna was killed when she was struck by a car while unloading suitcases from her car outside a relative’s house.
It happened minutes after she arrived at the house following a trip back from Scotland where she had been watching her beloved Celtic football team.
The fund has raised thousands of pounds which has helped to refurbish the library at St Mary’s RC Primary School where she had been a pupil.
