Plans to build up to 500 homes on a 46-acre site on the outskirts of Malton will be unveiled this Saturday.
The Fitzwilliam Malton Estate is inviting the public to see the proposals and have their say as it seeks to develop the site on Castle Howard Road, on the outskirts of the town.
The scheme is viewed as a long-term project by the landowner which, if approved, would be phased in over a number of years.
Master Planner Leon Krier, whose client list includes the Prince of Wales and the Duchy of Cornwall, has helped with the design which, the estate says, incorporates “classical themes while bearing modern living requirements in mind.”
The development would also take into account the local architectural theme of Malton.
Architect Jan Maciag has created an artist’s impression of the site, which is planned to include a village green.
The site would be built as a “walkable” community, favouring the pedestrian over the vehicle.
l To see the plans, visit 12 Market Street, Malton, on Saturday, between 10am and 5pm.
The plans will be on view at 12 Market Street for a fortnight after the event. There will also be a second opportunity to comment on the proposals directly to Ryedale District Council when the application is submitted formally next month.
