A hairdresser whose ambition is to break into the television and film industry has become the newest – and currently, the only female – member of Pickering and District Rotary Club.
Beth King, who has run The Hair Shop, Eastgate, Pickering, for the past 11 years, was welcomed into the organisation when she gave a recent talk to the Rotarians.
As well as offering an insight into what goes on in a ladies hair salon, she also brought four models and demonstrated a number of different cuts and how hair can be worn casually, or for more formal occasions.
Beth also spoke about her hopes to work in the TV and film worlds as a hairstylist and how she had entered the L’Oreal ID Artist auditions to make her dream a reality.
Dennis Eddon, president of Pickering Rotary Club, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Beth to the club. We want to see more members in the Rotary – specifically more ladies.
“Volunteering to help out in the community and Rotary International requires members from all walks of life, and skill sets. We all have a part to play in helping others who are less fortunate than ourselves.”
Beth added: “I am delighted to be a member of Pickering Rotary Club and I look forward to being involved in the forthcoming Rotary projects.”
She added that she feels “energised” at the number of ideas that are put together to help the community at each meeting. To find out more about the club visit www.pickering-rotary.org.uk
