Rugby match for MS society
VETERAN rugby players from 40 years old to 99 are being recruited for a charity match in Malton.
Organiser Nina Aldrich, 38, is holding the fixture to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society in North Yorkshire.
The mum-of-two was diagnosed with MS when she was 30 and came up with the idea because her husband used to play and coach rugby.
Now she is hoping to raise £3,000 from the match on Saturday March 2, which will feature a supper and charity auction.
Proceeds from the day will go to the Ryedale branch of the MS Society.
Nina, of Malton, said: “I never realised that three out of four people diagnosed with MS are woman aged between 20 and 40, no one knows what causes MS and there is no cure.
“Its symptoms can strike without warning as it did to me, causing my loss of mobility. Consequently I was unable to continue my media career in London. MS makes day to day living challenging in every way.”
