POLICE in Ryedale have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with a number of incidents where bills have not been paid at hotels, bed and breakfast accommodation and restaurants.
Mark Chapman, 34, who is from Cardiff, was arrested in January on suspicion of making off without paying from a restaurant in York.
He was due to answer bail in February but failed to appear.
Chapman is described as white, 6ft 4in tall with a medium build and auburn hair.
His whereabouts are unknown and it is possible he could be anywhere in the country.
Acting Police Sergeant Chris Whitehead, of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Mark, if you see or hear this appeal I strongly advise you to hand yourself in at the nearest police station. This issue will not go away and we will catch up with you.
“I am asking anyone who knows where Mark Chapman is, to contact the police straight away.”
Acting Sergeant Whitehead added: “As we believe Chapman may have committed similar offences, I am urging to the owners of hotels, bed and breakfast houses and restaurants to be alert. If he books accommodation, or is currently staying with you, I urge you to contact the police immediately.”
Anyone who can help to locate Mark Chapman is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
